Tips and Tricks
Introduction
After playing your first character in Aion, I’m sure you found yourself thinking - I’m going to remember that my next time around or I wish I would have known that. Each Daeva has a moment on their journey when they’ve had to ask for help and we want to make that easier. We’ve started the page with our own favorite tips and now we need yours.
Share your Daevanion experiences and tips and we’ll incorporate them in to our list. Just login to add a Post at the bottom of this Article and if we use your information we’ll give you credit as a Contributor to the page.

Gliding
In Combat:
You should always survey the area before engaging in combat, especially once you have your wings.
Make sure to look for any high-ground near to serve as a jumping point if defeat looks imminent.
If there’s not, see if you can’t draw the mob to a place with that advantage
When you’re on the brink of defeat - run, jump, and glide
Going the Distance:
It may take some time to perfect your glide, but once you do you’ll be amazed and how well it can serve you.
Try using different patterns: Straight-On Vs Zig Zag patterns and see what works best
Try using auto-run and then gliding
Test out the different movement controls (W,A) and use your mouse to change camera angle
Updrafts
You can almost always catch an updraft over water. If you wanted, you could use your entire flight time just playing around gliding around over the water -- not that I’ve done such a thing. Beware not to head out over deep water and run out of flight time. If you’re out too far, it’ll be off to the Obelisk.
Head for uneven ground! You can get good updrafts next to cliffs, walls, or even edges of paths that may only have a slight raise in elevation. There’s still a chance of getting one on flat terrain, but sustaining the glide is another story.
Up High and Out of Time!
On occasion you might do too well gliding and find yourself out of flight time. Nothing is worse than having such a good glide and saving so much travel time, to get sent back to the Obelisk where you probably started out at.
At the moment you get worried, start using W and look towards the ground (using the mouse).
Look for a cliff, tree, flower, petal, or any number of other tall items close to you. Try to land on one, recover your flight time, and then glide the rest of the way.
Leaving a flight zone and switching to Gliding:
When you’re leaving a flight zone you can fly high all the way to the end of the flight zone and then switch to glide. This can sometimes be a problem if you get low of flight time, as you can’t use Flight Potions while gliding. I know the name seems obvious - its flight potion not glide potion - but that didn’t stop me from trying.
Have a full flight timer
Take off from the highest point near the edge of the flight zone.
Fly high and prepare to switch to glide
Pop a Flight Potion
Disengage flight
Start your glide (spacebar)
Leveling

Asmodian Leveling Guide 18-25 (Coming Soon!)
If you have any
Lodas Amulets, save them for times when leveling seems to slow down. I would suggest not using them before level 18.
Level 20+ - Notice after logging in, sometimes you have a buff,
Energy of Repose, showing at the top of your screen. This will increase your XP by 40% for the duration. Use it wisely and go to an area where you are getting the most XP.
Level 9: When you reach level 9, stop doing any Quests in Poeta or Ishalgen and Ascend. Once you reach level 9 you will not gain any additional XP until you Ascend.
Asmodian: Visit Munin for a free trip to Pandaemonium to complete Ascension (A)
Elyos: Visit Pernos for a free trip to Sanctum to complete Ascension (E)
Level 10: Before heading back to finish up your Quests in Ishalgen and Poeta, go ahead and complete A Ceremony in Sanctum to receive your new weapon. Then head over to the skill trainers to get your new class specific skills.

Skill Trainers
Once you reach lvl 25 and have been to the Abyss, you will notice buffs appearing more often and are usually due to your Race capturing a fortress and retrieving an artifact. Each artifact has a different boost.
When you’re travelling from point A to B in Atreia, kill things along the way. Mobs in Aion offer a good amount of XP and are worth the time.
When you come to a new area, make sure you put some serious though in to soul binding if an Obelisk is available.
Some areas have a bind point, but don’t offer many amenities, such as a Warehouse or Trade Broker. At this point it becomes handy to carry some Return Scrolls with you.
Repeat Quests offer a way to get some additional kinah and XP while you grind mobs. Don’t rush to complete them though, just kill things on your way through to other Quests. As you finish them, turn them in and accept them again. Here’s our current list of Repeatable Quests.
Crafting is a great way to earn some additional XP, while possibly making items that are better than what you currently have. It’s also a great way to make some kinah.
Vendors
To buy more than one item from an NPC simply Shift + Right-click on the item you want and a calculator will come up to enter the amount.

Pay attention to the
Influence Ratio when you purchase items. Purchasing when taxes are low can save you some kinah.
Crafting
Since Crafting only becomes available at level 10, there are certain things you can do as you’re rising in level to make your life easier when you get there and important things to know about Mastery.
Items you’ll need:
Don’t sell crafting items you’ve gathered/looted: If you’re not sure what Crafting Profession you want to tackle or think you may want to try different ones -- Only do "Sell All Misc." when you sell items to vendors. This will keep all Quest and Crafting related items
Know your items: Items that are used in Crafting say so in their description. Just hover over the item in-game and it will let you know if it’s used to make a type of item and what Profession uses it. If you already know you want to focus on one Crafting area, you could use this as a way to only keep the items you know will be required, while not cluttering your inventory/warehouse.
Get to know your trainer and the worth of your items:
Get to know your trainer: Most recipes that you can purchase from a Vendor, will be randomly given as you complete Work Orders. However, the recipe is usually available to you at the Vendor before you receive it as a drop. If you can remain patient, you will save a lot of money by waiting to get the dropped items.
Know you’re Items: Knowing what an item is worth is a must before creation, unless you’re making it for yourself. Check out the Warehouse and see what an item is going for. Crafting can be expensive and you’re going to need the money.
Mastery
Crafting Mastery: In order to Master a Crafting Profession, you will need to take the Expert Test for your professions and reach level 5, which allows you to max out your crafting skill at 449. Expert Quests become available through your Crafting Master at level 29.
You Can Master 2 Crafting Professions! After you have mastered a profession and maxed out your skill points at 449, you can master a second profession. If you are already 399 in the second profession, just talk to the other Crafting Master to take your expert test for the second profession.
| NOTE: There will NOT be a "Quest Arrow" displayed when Expert Quests become available, as they are level 30 Quests. You can still talk to the Crafting NPCs and accept the Quests to continue with Master. |
Tip from Aravandagorn: Work Orders are a great way to get your Crafting Skill up quickly, as everything you need is available to you right there in the hall. When you talk to an Expert, get all of the Work Orders offerred.
Then go to the supplier and purchase all supplies that you’ll need. Buy them in bulk if you can manage it.
Fill the work orders in order of skill point - lowest to hightest - to reduce the chance of failure.
Turn in the Work Orders when complete and grab the next round
